A good question--needing some thoughtful answers.  Some questions to ask  yourself and answer before that questions can be answered are:
    1. What do I have that I want to protect and what is its value? (The vehicle/vehicles I want to insure)
2, What other assets do I need to protect? (my house, rental properties, earning potential, boat, etc.)
    3. How much am I willing to afford to spend in order to adequately protect all my assets.
    4. If I were responsible for a major accident that seriously injured or killed someone, and I did not have an adequate level of insurance protection, how would I pay if a judgment against me were more than the amount of insurance I carry on my auto insurance policy?
    5. Do I want to face liquidation of assets (home, other vehicles, boat, life style, etc.?) to meet my financial obligation to someone I have injured or killed?

When these questions are answered, you will be in a better position to determine how much automobile insurance you need.
